Can you tell me please, which is an appropriate epoxy for terminating PM fibre. I have heard that using the wrong epoxy type can seriously degrade the Extinction Ratio.

Cheers

It would be best to use this connector - PM Connector FC/APC 125um Step (PM-CON1007S-1250) You need to cleave the PM fiber insert it into the connector with epoxy then pull it back to the face of the ferrule rotate the stress rod to which alignment you need slow or fast axis. With the fiber aligned cure the epoxy at the end of the ferrule ? tack cure with a heat gun then place it a connector curing oven low heat 60C- 80C.
Of course all of this should be done with a video microscope monitoring the process on the video screen. With this step ferrule connector your polishing process should be 3um, 1um and FOS. One more thing it would be best to use a video line generator for the best alignment (Colorado Video, Inc)

Connectorization of FC/APC on PM fiber

I'm new to fiber optics and have a question regarding the connectorization of Polarization Maintaining fiber with an Angle Polish. What is the best technique for doing this by hand? I'm going to try
1. Epoxy a connector with an adjustable key onto the fiber and pre-polish without an angle.

2. Place the fiber into a fiber scope and align the PM fiber to the key and epoxy in place.
3. Then final polish with an angle.

Is this a good process or is there something else I need or should be aware of?
Thanks
