Fiber connector question

the fluid which guides optics in a fiber connector loses activity after 3-6 years from start.

Do fiber connectors go bad if not used in a certain amount of time such as unicam and hot melt connectors?

I have a box of 300 SC MM Hot melt date stamp is 1997 and also have 400 ST unicam connectors date stamp is 1998.
